Insight Dialogue
Insight Dialogue is an interpersonal form of Buddhist insight meditation, developed by Gregory Kramer.
Insight Dialogue has its roots in the four foundations of mindfulness, the central teaching of Theravadan practice. Some members of Bristol Zen Centre have been exploring Insight Dialogue practice for a number of years and the practice is facilitated by Jane Cutler and Jane Whitehead. They have both attended retreats and facilitation workshops with Gregory Kramer since 2005 and are in on-going training as facilitators with teachers in the Insight Dialogue Community.
“Humans are a social species. The path is presented here as encompassing our innately inescapably social nature. The Dhamma is offered in very direct human terms and so must include our relational lives.” From 'Insight Dialogue' by Gregory Kramer.
Insight Dialogue builds on our experience of individual practice. We meditate with each other in spoken enquiry. We sit side by side in silent meditation and we also meditate face to face and aloud. We interweave Insight Dialogue and silent meditation.
Insight Dialogue is an opportunity to be truly present, as we encounter one another.
Gregory Kramer’s book, “Insight Dialogue, The Interpersonal Path to Freedom”, gives a full and inspiring introduction to the practice. Our experience is that Insight Dialogue is a groundbreaking practice, whatever our meditation background may be.

Wednesday Insight Dialogue drop in group starting August 5th, 7 - 9pm
The Wednesday night Insight Dialogue group practicing in line with Gregory Kramer's teaching on the Noble Eightfold Path: "A path through Covid, a path through life" (FFI insightdialogue.org) will continue from August 5th as a drop in group.
It is suitable for people who already have experience of Insight Dialogue. You are welcome to join us on an occasional or on a regular basis.
The sessions will be led by Jane Cutler and Jane Whitehead. We hope to be joined by other Insight Dialogue
teachers and facilitators on an ad hoc basis, as we have been in the Gregory Kramer series.
9am ID on the last Monday of the month
On line practice using Zoom.
Since the autumn of 2017, Jane Cutler and Jane Whitehead have been co-facilitating an on line group with Susan Burgoyne in Australia. This group is open to anyone who has already had experience of Insight Dialogue.
On line practice is a surprisingly successful way of coming together to meditate. We have had people joining us from Australia, Finland, China, Spain, Germany. It is inspiring to be sharing practice and building community with people around the world.
