About us: Bristol Zen Centre (BZC) is an informal zen and Insight Dialogue community or sangha who practice around the Bristol area. We currently meet every week on a Tuesday evening for meditation practice at The Unitarian Chapel, Brunswick Square, Bristol. As well as our regular Tuesday evening practice, we offer a year round schedule of workshops, and residential and non-residential retreats. At the heart of BZC are a small group of experienced zen students. We are in the process of rethinking how we function as a community that offers both zen and Insight Dialogue practice. We are taking up an ongoing enquiry into how we build a community that both recognises experience while being of a nonhierarchical nature. We and honouring the Korean tradition we are rooted in as zen students and the Insight Mediation foundation of Insight Dialogue?
BZC was originally set up in 1998 by Kosen Osho and Soen Wol Sanim, senior students of Zen Master dae Gak of Furnace Mountain Zen Centre. We were originally known as The Wednesday Zen Meeting.

We offer formal zen training in an informal setting. We are a small and friendly group. Following in the tradition of our lineage, we provide an opportunity for open and dynamic spiritual inquiry. Our hope and intention is to awaken to our original compassionate nature for the benefit of all beings.
